PEOPLE WHO are granted Irish citizenship will in the future attend formal citizenship ceremonies where they will have to swear an oath of fidelity to the nation.

Maar wat houdt zulke eed in? Hoe rechtsgeldig is dat?
Wat kan er gebeuren als ze die eed breken? In welk geval doen ze dat?

Alles hangt af wat die 'Eed van trouw' inhoud en wat de juridische consequentie is al men die eed breekt.

The United States Oath of Allegiance is an oath that must be taken by all immigrants who wish to become United States citizens.

Wat vinden we daarvan?

Trouw zweren aan het land waarvan je de nationaliteit wil aannemen ? Zou overal moeten zijn, en is één der redenen waarom ik tégen het hebben van meerdere nationaliteiten ben.
