Polls have shown that the MAJORITY of Europeans are against Turkey joining the EU!!! Just wait for the results of the first referenda! LOL! The French were PROMISED a referendum! There is no chance at all for Turkey to overcome ANY such referendum. No chance at all! But you can continue to make an ass of yourselves and keep trying and hoping, like the desperate losers that you are! Hahahahaaaa...! As the wise French people said: NON A LA TURQUIE! |

The EU needs a democratic voting process, otherwise such a tiny piss country like SouthCyprus or Austria has the power to blockade everything in the EU. This has nothing to do with democracy, this is tyranny of the minority over the majority. This must be abolished. Currently the EU is far from being democratic, it even hasn't got a constitution yet! |

Also because of such idiocy the EU constitution will never be ratified. > Time for you to learn to accept that finally and learn something about yourself, No, the EU has to learn about its own idiocy. Which polls? Which polls? Which polls? Which polls? ----------- http://www.zaman.com/?bl=internation...50412&hn=18380 INTERNATIONAL 04.12.2005 Tuesday - ISTANBUL 22:49 Danish Oppose EU Constitution, Turkey an Excuse By Zaman Published: Tuesday 12, 2005 zaman.com The number of those who are expected to say "yes" to the European Union (EU) Constitution rapidly decreases in Denmark. While 30 percent of Danes responded yesterday in a questionnaire that they would say, "yes" to the referendum, this figure was recorded at 33 percent in March. The Danish defend that one of the most important reasons for the increase in a "no" vote, while "yes" votes decrease the possible EU membership of Turkey. According to the questionnaire published yesterday in Jullands-Posten newspaper, 30 percent of the nation supports the constitution, while 22 percent of public are likely to say "no". On the other hand, 48 percent of the public remains undecided. According to the survey, while just 19 percent of the public supports Turkey's EU membership, 63 percent oppose it. Brussels -------------------- http://search.ft.com/searchArticle?q...907000509&x=14 Financial Times - "Support for Turkey's EU membership falling sharply": BRUSSELS / 7 September / by Daniel Dombey Public support for Turkey's bid to join the European Union continues to crumble throughout Europe, while EU-US relations remain uneasy. The news - the findings of a poll released today - comes just weeks ahead of the scheduled start of membership talks on October 3. Among citizens of nine EU countries surveyed in May and June, overall support for Turkish membership stood at 22 per cent. The survey, carried out for the German Marshall Fund of the US, an organisation intended to foster transatlantic ties, found 29 per cent opposed, and 42 per cent undecided. In France, which has promised a referendum on Turkish membership, support for the move stands at just 11 per cent. "This issue of public opinion is very important and can't be ignored," said an EU official. "But Turkey is a vital strategic and economic partner." Meanwhile, President George W. Bush's efforts to improve EU-US ties have not been successful. In the wake of the failure to ratify the EU constitution and as difficulties continue in Iraq, the poll shows a European public suspicious both of member state governments' policies on Turkey and of Washington. "The Bush administration has got to be disappointed by these numbers," said Ron Asmus, executive director of the GMF's Transatlantic Centre in Brussels. Mr Bush had made three trips to Europe this year and had shown flexibility in negotiating on issues such as Iran's nuclear programme, yet the survey showed a 72 per cent disapproval rating of his handling of international policies and a 59 per cent disapproval rating of US leadership in world affairs. Meanwhile, only 15 per cent of Germans and 22 per cent of Poles favoured Turkish membership of the EU. The poll was carried out almost entirely in the aftermath of the crisis sparked off by the failure of the European constitution. A European Commission survey carried out just a few weeks before had shown much higher levels of support - 35 per cent in the EU as a whole, and 21 per cent in both France and Germany. Support has declined substantially even in Britain, Turkey's chief champion, from 45 per cent in the Commission survey, to 32 per cent in the latest poll. In Turkey, backing for membership has fallen from 73 per cent to 63 per cent. "Of course citizens' opinions matter a lot and we know there is a certain enlargement blues," said a spokeswoman for Olli Rehn, EU enlargement Commissioner. ----------------- http://www.freedom-for-ocalan.com/bu...cember22.htm#6 22 December 2005 The New Anatolian - "Eurobarometer: Support for Turkey's EU membership falling": BRUSSELS / 21 December 2005 Support for Turkey's European Union membership among European citizens has fallen to 31 percent, according to a just-released survey by pollster Eurobarometer. The survey was conducted during October and November in the aftermath of the two referendum defeats of the EU's constitution and continuing bitterness over the next EU budget round. As such the survey shows more unease about the EU's image, with the view that membership is a good thing falling from 54 percent to 50 percent and a fall from 55 percent to 52 percent in the perceived benefits of membership. On further enlargement, European citizens expressed less enthusiasm. Some 49 percent of the respondents in 25 member states expressed support for enlargement, while 39 percent opposed. Only 31 percent of the EU citizens said that they are in favor of Turkey's EU membership, while 55 percent said that they are opposed. Citizens in the 10 new member states had a more open and approving approach to Turkey, with 38 percent expressing support for Turkish membership, compared with 29 percent in the old 15 member states. Croatia, another country on the negotiations track with Turkey, received much support for its membership. Some 51 percent said that they are in favor of Croatia's membership, while 35 opposed. Support for membership of Bulgaria also stayed below 50 percent, and came in at 48 percent. Public opinion about enlargement varied significantly from country to country, with highest levels obtained in Greece at 74 percent, Slovenia at 74 percent and Poland at 72 percent. But in Austria, Luxembourg, France and Germany, around six out of 10 respondents said that they are against further enlargement. The ISRO will publish Turkish public perception survey next week. The survey will show how the Turkish perception about the EU and other states has changed since 2004. http://www.turkishdailynews.com.tr/a...mailtofriend=1 Poll: Just 35 percent of EU citizens support Turkey's entry Tuesday, July 19, 2005 The Eurobarometer poll shows support for any further expansion of the European Union has fallen 3 percentage points, to 50 percent, across the 25-nation bloc since the last poll in October BRUSSELS - AP Just 35 percent of European Union citizens support plans to bring Turkey into the bloc, according to a poll released by the EU's head office yesterday. The poll is a blow for Turkey, which is scheduled to open membership talks with the EU in October. Although negotiations are expected to last at least 10 years, France and Austria have already said they would require referendums to approve Turkish membership. The Eurobarometer poll also indicated lukewarm support for Romania and Bulgaria, which are due to join the EU in 2007. Fifty percent of citizens backed Bulgarian entry, while 45 percent wanted Romania in the EU. Opposition to further expansion of the EU has increased in some Western European member countries following the entry of 10 new members in May last year. Fears that jobs and cherished social services would be threatened by the lower cost former-communist nations were believed to be a key factor in the rejection of the EU's proposed constitution this year by French and Dutch voters. The poll showed support for any further expansion of the EU had fallen 3 percentage points, to 50 percent, across the 25-nation bloc since the last poll in October. The new members, who have been keen to bring in their eastern European neighbors, have stood behind enlargement. Support was weaker in the western nations, with just 31 percent in Austria backing further enlargement, 32 percent in France and 33 percent in Germany and Luxembourg. Luxembourgers were the most enthusiastic members, with 80 percent saying their participation in the bloc was a positive thing, though that was still down 5 points from the last poll. The Irish and the Dutch -- despite Dutch rejection of the EU constitution -- followed them. The poll was based on interviews with 23,328 people across the EU in May and June. -------------------------- Do you need more?... -- E' mai possibile, oh porco di un cane, che le avventure in codesto reame debban risolversi tutte con grandi puttane!
