EU took the lion’s share of Turkish car exports EU countries took the lion’s share of total car exports from Turkey, about 80.9 percent, with more than half of Turkey’s car exports going to Germany, Italy, France and England.. According to data from the Uludağ Exporters’ Union (UİB),the Turkish automotive sector exports to 156 nations and 13 free zones on five continents. Total auto exports in the first quarter of 2007 were valued at $4.3 billion, $3.5 billion of which were with Turkey’s largest trade partners: EU countries. The total value of automobile exports to the other 130 countries was only $825.6 million. There were no exports to northern Cyprus during January. Exports in the first quarter to Germany, Italy, France and England made up more than half of total exports with a value of $2.2 billion. Other EU countries that ranked high in receiving car exports from Turkey were Holland, Belgium, Ireland, Austria, Sweden, Greece, Finland, Denmark, Portugal, Luxemburg and Poland. |
