Ik heb er al eens in gegrasduind maar ben geen geek en het gaat m'n petje wat te boven. Staat daar nu iets meer in dan wat we al weten uit de reguliere media ?

The Wikileaks report contains the name of Fox-IT, because from December 2006 to September 2011 we have developed the product FoxReplay Analyst. Law enforcement and intelligence agencies are using the product to analyze already intercepted internet traffic. For example, the product is used for reading intercepted emails from criminals as part of a criminal investigation. Governments, including the Dutch police, are using FoxReplay Analyst to investigate and fight terrorism, cybercrime and traditional crimes.

FoxReplay Analyst cannot be used to impose censorship. In contrary to what Wikileaks claims, Fox-IT has never developed trojans.

It is our mission to provide technical and innovative contributions for a more secure society. We understand that our innovative solutions can be used for other purposes as well. Therefore we are critical in the choice of our customers. We test in every single case if a sale is compliant with our mission. The goal is to make society safer, not to keep a dictatorial regime in power. These considerations have led us to turn down foreign interest in FoxReplay Analyst several times. It is regrettable that WikiLeaks suggests that the mere fact that companies were present at an international conference indicates that they are offering their technology to dictatorships to contribute to the oppression of their people.

So far, companies in Europe are free to sell ‘dual-use’ technology. We do not consider this desirable. In April 2011, Fox-IT has therefore made agreements with the Dutch government to avoid abusive usage of the technology. More information on the agreement: http://www.rijksoverheid.nl/nieuws/2...tvrijheid.html. The European Parliament has urged to regulate the export of lawful interception technology. Fox-IT supports this initiative wholeheartedly. Again: it is good that this debate has been sparked by Wikileaks.

Did Wikileaks just reveal the US blueprint for Libya?

August 26, 2011 -- The US administrations of presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama were set on developing deep “military to military” ties with the Libyan regime of Muammar Gaddafi, classified US diplomatic cables released by Wikileaks on August 24 reveal. The United States was keen to integrate Libya as much as possible into “AFRICOM”, the US military command for Africa which seeks to establish bases and station military forces permanently on the continent. “We never would have guessed ten years ago that we would be sitting in Tripoli, being welcomed by a son of Muammar al-Qadhafi”, US Senator Joseph Lieberman said during an August 2009 meeting, which also included senators John McCain and Susan Collins.

The documents also reveal that the United States was keen to court Gaddafi’s sons, flying them to the United States for high level visits. And, notably, none of the cables regarding high level meetings quoted in this post made any mention of uS concerns about “human rights” in Libya. The issue never appeared on the bilateral agenda.

Michael Grunwald (TIME Magazine) zou Assange graag gedroned zien.

Less than one month after writing an article advocating the creation of a 1984-style police state within the US, TIME Magazine’s senior correspondent Michael Grunwald now says he ‘can’t wait’ to cheer on the death of Wikileak’s Julian Assange. In fact, he specifically can’t wait to support a drone strike on Assange.

WikiLeaks zet reusachtige bestanden online via bittorrent als zelfbescherming

Het gaat om drie bestanden die WikiLeaks via Facebook wereldkundig heeft gemaakt. Een van de bestanden is opvallend groot met zijn omvang van 349GB. De content van de bestanden, in totaal bijna 400GB, kan zonder sleutel niet worden gelezen. WikiLeaks gebruikt AES256-encryptie voor het versleutelen van de data.

WikiLeaks vraagt internetgebruikers om de bestanden, die via bittorrent zijn te downloaden, te downloaden waardoor zogeheten mirrors ontstaan. Zo zegt de klokkenluiderssite zijn data veilig te willen stellen. De inhoud is pas te raadplegen als WikiLeaks de benodigde sleutel publiceert.

WikiLeaks releases encrypted versions of upcoming publication data ("insurance") from time to time to nullify attempts at prior restraint.
