Ik zat in Alcañiz een paar maanden geleden met een pint in de hand en op de stoep. Tot mijnheer de flik mij "beleefd" (lees: autoritair) erop wees dat het verboden was een pint te drinken op de stoep. Ik moest immers een paar meter verder aan een tafel gaan zitten op een stoel.

Lieden die toch dergelijke slobberbroeken dragen riskeren maximaal zes maanden gevangenisstraf en een boete van vijfhonderd dollar, wegens schennis van de openbare eerbaarheid. Volgens sommige bewoners van Delcambre is de maatregel speciaal tegen zwarten gericht, aangezien laaghangende, 'baggy' broeken bij de hiphopcultuur horen, maar burgemeester Carol Broussard spreekt dat tegen. "Blanke mensen dragen ook afgezakte broeken", zegt hij.

Overigens vindt het raadslid dat het verbod voorstelde, Albert Roy, de straf die op overtreding is gesteld buitensporig. "Ik had iets van een boete van 25 dollar in gedachten", zegt hij.
