Zoiets zeg ik maar wanneer ik het kan bewijzen ...

In 1930 telde de CCCP ongeveer 150 miljoen inwoners . " Stalin en zijn kliek " hebben er daarvan volgens u ( laat ons aannemen tot aan de tweede wereldoorlog , tijdens -o.a.- de landbouwcollectivisaties en de zuiveringen in de partij , op +/- 10 jaar tijd dus ) 30 miljoen vermoord . Da's 20 % van de bevolking . Wanneer we die cijfers toepassen op het huidige België zou dit betekenen dat er hier , vanaf 1997 tot vandaag , 2 miljoen ( 20 % van 10 miljoen ) mensen zouden zijn vermoord . Gelooft u dit echt ?
Ik weet absoluut niet hoeveel waarheid er staat in het boek :" Een andere kijk op Stalin " van Ludo Martens ( uitgeverij EPO , ISBN 90 6445 728 X ) , en ik maak er ook geen reclame voor , maar 't zou misschien toch geen kwaad kunnen als u het eens ter hand nam !

Abstract

The political history of Kampuchea in the decade of the 1970s is characterized by successive waves of civil war, revolution, and invasion. The demographic history of this same period is characterized by excess mortality from war, from massacres and executions, and from famine; by forced migrations and flight of refugees; and by greatly reduced birth rates. Focusing on the period since the defeat of the Lon Nol government by the Khmer Rouge in 1975, this article pieces together available data on the impact of the years of political and social upheaval on demographic trends in the country. The end-of-year 1979 Kampuchean population is estimated at between 5 and 6 million inhabitants--5 million less than the figure projected for 1979 in 1970, assuming normal conditions.

Sleeping sickness ravaged the country and was used by the regime to account for demographic decrease. On 24 May 2006, a motion (EDM 2251) was presented to the British Parliament, recognising the tragedy caused by King Leopold II as genocide and calling upon Belgium to apologise to the people of Congo for it. As of 16 June 2006, EDM 2251 is officially backed by 42 British MPs.
