Tesla is steadily expanding its reach in the Philippines. Just weeks after launching its first store in the country, the electric vehicle maker has built its first Supercharger station.

Interestingly enough, Tesla ended up building its first Supercharger in the Philippines even before it delivered its first car in the country.

Tesla Philippines’ first Supercharger is located at Uptown Mall, the same location where the flagship Tesla Philippines Experience Center is located.

Uptown Mall is located in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), a central business district and one of Metro Manila’s most upscale areas.

Based on images shared by the official Tesla Charging account, Tesla Philippines’ first Supercharger is equipped with four V4 stalls.

Estimates suggest that a Model 3 or Model Y will cost about PHP 1,140 (about $20) to fully charge in the Supercharger at Uptown Mall. That’s roughly equal to the price of 20 liters (5.28 gallons) of gasoline, or less than half a full tank of a popular seven-seater like the Mitsubishi Xpander, which is powered by a 1.5-liter engine.

Tesla Philippines only sells the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y.
Both vehicles are imported from Gigafactory Shanghai.
The Model 3 and Model Y are competitively priced—comparable in cost to mainstream vehicles like the Toyota Camry Hybrid and the Honda CR-V—at least if bought in cash.

A very young EV market:
Electric vehicles are still very new in the Philippines, so Tesla would have to battle a lot of misconceptions from domestic car owners.

That said, the Philippines is a small country, so the range of the Model 3 and Model Y is likely more than adequate to satisfy the needs of Filipino drivers.

Tesla Model Y “Juniper” with “cyber” headlights and no camo sighted in China

The first photographs of a fully-uncovered updated Tesla Model Y “Juniper” prototype have been shared online.

As can be seen in the photos, Tesla seems to have implemented some “cyber” design elements to its best-selling vehicle.

The latest sighting:
Photos of the apparent Tesla Model Y “Juniper” prototype were recently shared on Chinese social media.
The photos were reportedly taken at a winter testing facility in Northeast China.
Unlike other sightings of the vehicle, the photos showed a vehicle that was not covered in camouflage at all.
With this, the first sighting of a fully uncovered Model Y “Juniper” has been reported.

Model Y “Juniper” uncovered:

• Immediately noticeable from the leaked images was the fact that the apparent Model Y “Juniper” features a “cyber” lightbar that resembles the lights of the Cybertruck and the Cybercab.
• Similar to the Cybercab, the “cyber” lightbar appears to be the Model Y “Juniper’s” headlights.
• The vehicle in the sighting features a front fascia with design elements that are similar to the reengineered Model 3 Performance. This hints that the updated Model Y prototype in the image may be a performance model.
• A red light bar is quite evident in the rear of the vehicle, though its placement is quite high.
• The suspension of the vehicle in the leaked images also appears to be quite high when the images were taken. This may hint at the new Model Y receiving the reengineered Model 3’s adaptive damping system, which adjusts automatically to improve ride quality.

Het Chinese Nieuwjaar is de belangrijkste Chinese feestperiode die zich kenmerkt door maaltijden met de familie, de kleur rood, lampionnen en veel vuurwerk. De eerste dag valt ieder jaar op de tweede of derde nieuwe maan na de zonnewende, wat meestal eind januari of in februari is. Het feest duurt daarna nog 15 dagen, waarbij ook de laatste dag weer belangrijk is. In China zelf wordt het Chinese Nieuwjaar ?? (ch?nj?*e) genoemd wat Lentefestival betekent.

In 2025 valt het Chinese Nieuwjaar op 29 januari . Volgens de Chinese kalender begint in 2025 het jaar van de slang. Het nieuwjaarsfestival duurt in 2025 van 29 januari tot 12 februari.

Dat is dit jaar pas 13 februari.

Nu dat een nieuw kwartaal begonnen is hoeft Tesla die wagen niet meer te camoufleren. De verkoop start sowieso elke eerste kwartaalmaand op het gemakske. In China zullen ook minder wagens gemaakt worden door die feestweken.

2025 Model Y Juniper facelift onthuld met zij-openingen en twee lichtbalken in Cybercab stijl

Er wordt steeds meer gespeculeerd dat Tesla de langverwachte Model Y Juniper-vernieuwing in de week van 13 januari zal aankondigen en uitbrengen, en de eerste waarneming van de Model Y facelift van 2025 zonder testmuilcamouflage gooit alleen maar water in die specifieke geruchtenmolen.

De onbedekte Model Y Juniper is vanuit de verte gefotografeerd tijdens een test in winterse omstandigheden ergens in China, waar Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory van Tesla al bezig is met het assembleren van de eerste serieproductie. De achterkant van de facelift is nog steeds enigszins bedekt, dit keer met sneeuw, maar de lichtbalk die over de achterkant loopt, kan nu worden bevestigd.

Net zoals de testexemplaar vorige week in camouflagetapijt te zien was, komt er ook een lichtbalk aan de voorkant, vergelijkbaar met die op de Cybertruck en de Cybercabvoor één uniforme designtaal. Dit is echter niet helemaal kenmerkend voor Tesla, aangezien veel Chinese en Koreaanse elektrische voertuigen een dunne lichtbalk aan de voorkant hebben. Op de Juniper lijkt de voorste lichtbalk echter onderbroken en losgekoppeld van de koplampstrips, voor wat aanraakloze kofferbak opening.

Het is niet duidelijk of deze laatste spionagefoto's van een Tesla Model Y zijn Juniper Performance versie is, zoals de uitvoering die gisteren in de VS te zien was, of dat dit het ontwerp zal zijn dat voor alle Juniper-versies wordt gekozen, maar de twee ventilatieopeningen aan de onderkant lijken op wat Tesla deed met de Performance-uitvoering van de Model 3 Highland refresh.

Tesla voert nooit drastische designveranderingen door met zijn voertuigfacelifts op het niveau waarop bijvoorbeeld Hyundai dat doet, dus de Model Y Juniper-vernieuwing lijkt gewoon een voorbeeld te hebben genomen aan de Model 3 Highland-vernieuwing. De buitenkant is gestroomlijnder en agressiever, en het interieur zal waarschijnlijk gericht zijn op minimalisme en comfort, met geventileerde stoelen en sfeerverlichting.

Wat betreft de Model Y Juniper specs, er wordt gezegd dat hij wordt geleverd met een grotere batterij en efficiëntere motoren voor een groter bereik tijdens het opladen, evenals een HW4 zelfrijdende kit. De Model Y Juniper kan ook sneller opgeladen worden dankzij de moderne 800V aandrijflijn die Tesla debuteerde met de Cybertruck, en hij zal ook de 48V laagspanningsarchitectuur hebben.

Het is echter mogelijk dat de Drive-by-Wire en achterwielbesturing van de dure Cybertruck niet worden overgenomen.

Last Thursday, Tesla launched what is the newest iteration of the all-electric crossover Model Y in China.

Speculation on whether Tesla would develop a new Model Y has persisted for weeks, but it was finally confirmed last week after the automaker put it up for sale on the company’s website.

Two configurations were launched in China and some surrounding markets, like Australia, last week: a Rear-Wheel-Drive and an All-Wheel Drive. Tesla also introduced a “Launch Edition,” which comes with some exclusive materials and badges.

Tesla also added several other features, some of which are geared toward an improvement of the Full Self-Driving suite.

Now, it appears that Tesla is moving toward expanding production of the new Model Y to other markets and factories, as German media is reporting that employees at Gigafactory Berlin are being told by management that they will start building the refreshed vehicle as early as Tuesday.

This could be a huge development for Tesla as a company as the Model Y was already the best-selling vehicle in Germany in 2024, with 29,896 units sold in the country, according to EU-EVs.

It was also the best seller in Europe last year as 159,211 units were sold across the EU. The Model 3 was second, with 81,156 units sold. Tesla held 15.8 percent of the EU’s electric vehicle market last year, beating Volkswagen, which had 9.6 percent.

The new design could encourage recent buyers to upgrade. This could translate to quite a few repeat sales for Tesla as it moves forward and hopes to grow deliveries to over two million this year.

Tesla TSLA kondigde aan dat het de wettelijke goedkeuring voor zijn autonome rijassistentiesoftware heeft afgerond. De aandelenkoers van de elektrische-autobouwer steeg op het moment van schrijven met 10% na het nieuws.

Waarom dit belangrijk is:

De concurrenten van Tesla op het gebied van elektrische voertuigen in China lanceren hun eigen autonome rijsystemen van niveau 2 (waarbij het voertuig de bestuurder helpt bij het sturen en versnellen of vertragen).

• De goedkeuring van de full self driving-software van Tesla vermindert het risico dat consumenten in China een ander voertuig kiezen in plaats van de technologie. Dit zou Tesla moeten helpen om de leveringen in China, die in de eerste twee maanden van het jaar daalden, te verbeteren.

Opm.: de leveringen in China daalden wegens de omstelling naar het sterk opgefriste model Y. Consumenten waren daar reeds lang van op de hoogte en stelden hun aankoop uit.

De FSD-goedkeuring van Tesla zou moeten helpen om de leveringen op korte termijn in China te verbeteren. In andere markten rekent Tesla echter een maandelijks abonnementsgeld voor het gebruik van de software. Dit in tegenstelling tot concurrent BYD, die zijn Level 2 autonoom rijdende software gratis aanbiedt.

• Aangezien Tesla alleen goedkeuring heeft gekregen voor zijn FSD-software van niveau 2, vragen we ons af of consumenten bereid zijn om een maandelijks abonnement te betalen voor software die mogelijk slechts marginaal beter is dan de gratis versie van BYD.

• Uiteindelijk zal Tesla de FSD-prijs in China misschien moeten verlagen. Hoewel FSD nog steeds de drijvende kracht zou zijn achter leveringen in China, zou een lagere prijs Tesla’s totale bereikbare markt daar verkleinen.

Tesla heeft nog altijd significant meer winstmarge dan BYD en kan dus zijn FSD-prijs relatief laag houden, maar ze doen dat allesbehalve:

Tesla offers Chinese owners 1 month of free FSD use to boost adoption

Tesla said it wants trial customers to experience and use this feature based on goodwill too, and welcomes feedback from users on any issues.

The FSD feature is priced at RMB 64,000 ($8,850) and vehicles that have already been equipped with the Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) feature can be upgraded to FSD by paying an RMB 32,000 price, Tesla said.

Tesla began pushing out software update version 2024.45.32.12 to eligible vehicles in China on February 25, bringing advanced smart driving features similar to FSD in the US.

Tesla has tweaked the naming of its smart driving system offerings in China, with the company dropping “FSD” terminology from its vehicle order pages. The update was observed by industry watchers earlier this week.

Names Adjusted, Features Intact

Tesla China’s RMB 64,000 ($8,820) package—once listed as “FSD Intelligent Assisted Driving”—has been updated to “Intelligent Assisted Driving.” Its RMB 32,000 mid-tier system, previously dubbed “Enhanced Version Automated Assisted Driving”, has also been updated to “Enhanced Assisted Driving.”

Tesla’s basic Autopilot system, which was previously dubbed “Basic Version Assisted Driving,” has been changed to “Basic Assisted Driving” as well. Even the system’s umbrella term has been updated from “Autopilot Automated Assisted Driving” to simply “Assisted Driving Package.”

It should be noted that the functions of the systems, despite their updated names, remain unchanged, as noted in a CNEV Post report.
