Ik dacht hetzelfde in een artikel van RT gelezen te hebben.

Het botert op vele gebieden blijkbaar niet tussen de Amerikaan en Rusland. Dat blijkt weerom uit de grove verklaringen van bepaalde Amerikaanse toppolitiekers die zaken over het Russiche beleid hebben gezegd (al waren deze beweringen correct) die vanuit een diplomatiek oogpunt absoluut onaanvaardbaar zijn.

Diezelfde week had Mevr. Clinton ook wat vertellen over Europa; ze vindt nl. de sovjetisering van Europa ongewenst en angstaanjagend.

Hun kritiek mag dan al correct zijn, maar blijkbaar heeft de VS vorige week een nieuwe weg gekozen en deze blijkt vrij agressief van aard te zijn.

The 27 EU foreign ministers will also consider the crisis in Syria, where activists say more than 40,000 people have died. Hague said foreign ministers would be briefed by Mouaz al-Khatib, a moderate cleric who heads the new, Western-backed opposition coalition in Syria. Hard-line Islamist groups in the country have not joined the new coalition, and al-Khatib is expected to inform the EU ministers about attempts to unify the Syrian opposition as the coalition seeks greater diplomatic recognition.

The EU does not itself offer formal recognition _ that is left to the individual member countries _ but it has said that the coalition is a legitimate representative of the Syrian people.

Bildt said it was important for EU foreign ministers to send a message of strong support to the opposition, and also to Lakdhar Brahimi, the joint U.N.-Arab League peace envoy for Syria, who Bildt said has been making "good progress."

Bildt said Syria's chemical weapons would be discussed, as well. "In a situation of chaos, it is exceedingly dangerous if these things start floating around in the region," he said.

EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said many member states have been urging the EU to move forward with bringing war crimes charges against Syrian President Bashar Assad.

"We must recognize the terrible situation in Syria and the responsibility he bears for it," Ashton said.

Syria is not a party to the International Criminal Court and the U.N. Security Council has not referred the conflict to the war crimes tribunal.

De VS heeft de droom om de 'sole superpower' te zijn en blijven nog niet opgegeven. Bloed zal er vloeien. Maar de tijd dringt om dit megalomaan en onethisch doel nog kansen te geven. Merk je dat niet? Dat gevoel dat de gringo's hebben van het "het is nu of nooit" voor het wereldheerschappij project. 9 december 2012 - Damascus: The Syrian government has expressed concerns over the possibility of foreign countries providing the rebels chemical weapons and later frame the ruling-government.

"What raises concerns regarding this news circulated by the media is our serious fear that some of the countries backing terrorism and terrorists might provide the armed terrorist groups with chemical weapons," Xinhua quoted Syrian foreign ministry as saying in a letter sent to the UN Saturday.

Those countries may later, the letter further said: "claim that it was the Syrian government that used the weapons."

The ministry warned that the "terrorist groups" might resort to chemical weapons against the Syrian people.

It also denounced what it described as the international community's "inaction" to deal with the developments after the "terrorist groups" recently took hold of a chlorine processing plant near the northern city of Aleppo.

The ministry's remarks came as the US and its western allies recently raised concerns over the Syrian chemical arsenal and speculated that Syria might use those weaponries against the armed militias.

Syria has repeatedly denied having such arms and stressed that even if it had those weapons, it would not use them.

A video recently circulated on the internet shows a child who is commanded by the foreign-backed al-Qaeda militants in Syria to behead a pro-Assad supporter. This is believed to have taken place in the western city of Homs, located about 160 kilometers north of the capital, Damascus. The video also displays one of the militants at the scene who shows the severed head and places it on the trunk of the victim.

In line with this policy of fanning extremism, Saudi Arabia is reportedly dispatching those on death row in the country to Syria in order to fight against Assad. A series of secret documents “leaked to the media” revealed on Monday that Saudi Arabia is sending death convicts to Syria to fight against Bashar Assad's government in return for pardon or remission of their punishment and financial support for their family.

Among those on death row are drug traffickers, murderers and rapists. According to the document, the families of the convicts are not allowed to leave the county but they are cared for as long as the convict continue to fight along with the militants and remain loyal to the unholy cause.

The convicts include 105 Yemenis, 21 Palestinians, 212 Saudis, 96 Sudanese, 254 Syrians, 82 Jordanians, 68 Somalis, 32 Afghans, 194 Egyptians, 203 Pakistanis, 23 Iraqis and 44 Kuwaitis.

Given the fact that Saudi Arabia and Qatar have already been paying salaries to militants fighting in Syria against President Bashar Assad, this does not seem to be some bolt from a madman’s imagination.

France, the United Kingdom, Israel and Qatar have prepared yet another plan for intervention in Syria. 6000 new jihadists, including 4000 from Lebanon, should be poised to attack the upscale Mezzeh neighborhood south of Damascus, home to many embassies and where several top military and civilian officials reside. An incident involving chemical weapons across the country is set to increase the tension. A traitorous general would then claim to have seized power and call to the West for help, thus providing a pretext for military intervention outside the UN mandate.

Several military coup attempts have been orchestrated by the West during the current year. All have failed and there is nothing to suggest that it will be any different this time.

Time is running out for those states opposed to the Geneva peace plan concluded between the U.S. and Russia, since it should be presented to the Security Council in February, that is just after the endorsement by the U.S. Senate of the new Obama administration. Therefore, during the forthcoming two months, all kinds of coup attempts should be expected.

It is unclear what Russia’s and Iran’s reactions would be to such an operation. Vladimir Putin said he is ready to defend Syria "on the very streets of Moscow," meaning he is ready to go to war. For its part, Iran has always asserted that Syria was its line of defense and that, consequently, it would not abandon it. All these statements may only be a bluff, but by triggering a military intervention, Paris, London, Tel Aviv and Doha would be taking the risk of causing a general conflagration.

Een gevaarlijk spel is het dat het westen speelt in het midden oosten door het steunen van religieuze extremisten om seculiere nationalisten te pogen controleren. Syrië was een pluralistische staat, en het westen werkt mee om er een Sunni islamitische staat van te maken. Rusland ziet de gevaren daarvan in aangezien ze zelf geconfronteerd worden met bewegingen zoals die van "Emir" Doku Umarov die een emiraat van de Kaukasus wil maken.

En ondertussen dat het westen religieuze extremisten steunt in Syrië en elders in het midden Oosten zou het willen dat datzelfde extremisme zich niet verspreid naar Europa? Dat is inderdaad misschien extreem naïef te noemen.

Moest het niet onder invloed van de VS zijn, Europa zou zo dom niet handelen in het midden Oosten, door de laatste resten van seculiere en pluralistische maatschappijen te willen omver werpen. Het is duidelijk dat de interesses van de VS en Europa hier niet gelijk lopen. De VS hoeft veel minder rekening te houden met de gevolgen vaan haar midden oosten politiek thuis. En laten we eerlijk zijn. In essentie kan het de VS geen zak schelen of het Islamisme oprukt in Europa of niet.

10 december 2012 - Rebel groups across Syria are defying the United States by pledging their allegiance to a group that Washington will designate today a terrorist organization for its alleged links to al-Qaeda.

A total of 29 opposition groups, including fighting "brigades" and civilian committees, have signed a petition calling for mass demonstrations in support of Jabhat al-Nusra, an Islamist group which the White House believes is an offshoot of al-Qaeda in Iraq.

The petition is promoting the slogan "No to American intervention, for we are all Jabhat al-Nusra" and urges supporters to "raise the Jabhat al-Nusra flag" as a "thank you".

"These are the men for the people of Syria, these are the heroes who belong to us in religion, in blood and in revolution," read a statement widely circulated on Syrian opposition Facebook pages.

Jabhat al-Nusra made its mark early this year with a string of suicide bombings, a tactic it continues to use.

Opposition fighters inside Syria told The Daily Telegraph that the US announcement was too little too late, and that any attempts by the West to intervene in Syria would be rejected. "We don't support the new FSA military command," said Ous al-Arabi, a spokesman of the Deir al-Zour Revolutionary council.

"For Deir al-Zour province they have chosen people who are not representative. Jabhat al-Nusra is the strongest group here and they ignored that.

"The people are not going to accept intervention by the West now. You were watching us die, and now that we close to victory you want to intervene? You are not welcome."

Ondertussen stelt de Amerikaanse overheid Assad verantwoordelijk voor de aanwezigheid van de Al-Nusra op Syrisch grondgebied.

Al-Nusra is niet meer of minder dan een afdeling van AQ-in Irak. Jawel, datzelfde groepje dat destijds zij aan zij met het Libische LIFG (AQIM), via oa. Syrie Irak binnengestroomd, tegen de Amerikaanse troops vochten in Irak.

(Ook het LIFG zit heden in Syrie, ze kenden het terrein reeds van vroeger, samen met hun vriendjes van Al-Nursa)
