Geen gezever over emissienormen want wordt toch niet gemeten. En amper 35 euro aan VB. Allemaal goed zolang het niet voor dagelijks vervoer is. Als ik dan opmerk dat mijn twee wagens die ik zelf bezit soms meerdere dagen tot weken stil staan? Dan ben ik gerustgesteld en moet ik mij er allemaal niets van aantrekken

During Tesla’s recently-held 2018 Annual Shareholder Meeting, Elon Musk provided an estimate as to when the $35,000 base trim Model 3 would begin production. According to Musk, Tesla would start manufacturing the standard range, RWD variant of the compact electric car in Q1 2019.

The update to the base trim Model 3 came as a response to a question asking if Musk could publicly guarantee that the $35,000 variant of the electric car would indeed be produced. Addressing the company’s shareholders, Musk stated that the Model 3’s most affordable option would “definitely” be offered.

“Yes. We will definitely offer a $35,000 version of the Model 3. And probably at the end of this year is when we will be able to make a smaller version of the battery pack, and get into volume production of $35,000 version in Q1 next year. We would definitely honor that obligation, and we would do so right now if it were possible.”

The base trim Model 3 is Tesla’s most affordable vehicle to date. Priced at just $35,000, the compact electric car boasts 220 miles of range on a single charge. The performance of the standard range RWD Model 3 is no joke either, with the vehicle capable of sprinting from 0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds, almost a full second faster than its closest rival, the Chevy Bolt EV (6.5 seconds).

The $35,000 base trim Model 3 is one of the most highly-anticipated versions of the compact electric car. Tesla has so far been prioritizing higher-end versions of the vehicle. The company began rolling out the Model 3 in its fully-loaded long-range RWD version first at the end of 2017, and in May opened orders for the electric car’s dual-motor AWD and Performance variants.

Tesla Gigafactory 1: new flyover shows new lot ahead of expansion

After a hold on the expansion of the structure over the last year, Tesla has made some moves for an expansion at Gigafactory 1 in 2018.

Pictures from a new flyover the giant factory shows that Tesla completed a massive new parking lot, which is going to enable a new expansion of the building.

Over the last year, Tesla’s focus at Gigafactory 1 has been on building up production capacity in the structure for Model 3 batteries and drive units as well as Powerpacks and Powerwalls.

It resulted in the actual structure remaining virtually unchanged throughout 2017, but Tesla has started making changes in 2018 – finally beginning to install its massive ‘world’s largest solar rooftop array’.

A few months ago, Tesla also started moving ground at Gigafactory 1 in order to build a new parking lot on the north side of the plant.

This is important because the company’s current parking lot is located on the west side of the factory – where the structure’s expansion is planned and therefore, they need to move the parking lot in order to keep building.

Paul Hollingworth recently flew his gyroplane (open cockpit aircraft) over the battery factory and took some pictures showing the new completed lot:

It also shows the completed first phase of the large rooftop solar array that Tesla is building at the factory.

As we previously reported, the current structure has a footprint of 1.9 million square-feet. Including several levels, the factory currently has about 4.9 million square feet of operational space. This represents only ~30 percent of the planned completed Gigafactory, according to Tesla.

Tesla’s goal is to produce 105 GWh of battery cells and have an output of 150 GWh of battery packs at the factory when at full production, which was originally planned for 2020.

Tesla heeft nu wereldwijd meer dan 10.000 snellaadpalen of ca. eentje per 30 verkochte Tesla.
Natuurlijk kan een Tesla ook ergens anders laden, maar dat zijn de snelste laadpalen, én enkel gereserveerd voor Tesla-wagens.

Tesla has now officially deployed over 10,000 Superchargers around the world.

The automaker is about 5 months late with the milestone, but it is now adding stations at a high pace and it plans to expand even faster once the next-gen Supercharger is ready.

Last year, Tesla set out to build 10,000 Superchargers by the end of the year.

It came out short, but it never stopped building new stations and adding Supercharger stalls to existing stations.

it took an additional 5 months or so to get there but with the opening of 5 new stations this week, Tesla is now at over 10,000 Supercharger stalls installed at 1,261 stations all around the world, according to the company’s website.

Er is ook nog de euro-dollar wisselkoers die tot voor kort bijzonder gunstig was voor amerikaanse import. Een zwakke dollar maakt die Fords goedkoper.

Echter de dollar is aan een opmars bezig....
