Data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) has revealed that Tesla China sold 66,051 Gigafactory Shanghai-made vehicles in January 2023. The number covers cars that were sold domestically and exported abroad.

Tesla China’s January 2023 wholesale results indicate that the electric vehicle maker sold 10.37% more cars year-over-year and 18.38% more units month-over-month. For context, Tesla China’s wholesale figures in January 2022 stood at 59,845 units and 55,796 units in December 2022.

While Tesla China’s January 2023 results are not record-setting, they are nevertheless impressive. This is because China celebrated its Spring Festival last month, which spanned the final days of the month. Without the holiday, Tesla China’s sales would likely have been more robust.

SHANGHAI, Dec 24 (Reuters) - Tesla suspended production at its Shanghai plant on Saturday, according to an internal notice and two people with knowledge of the matter, bringing ahead a previous plan to pause most work at the plant in the last week of December.

The U.S. automaker cancelled the morning shift and told all workers at its most productive manufacturing hub they could start their break, said the people and the notice seen by Reuters. The company did not give a reason.

Reuters reported earlier this month that the electric car giant planned to suspend Model Y production at the plant from Dec. 25 to Jan. 1.

The suspension comes among a rising wave of infections after China eased its zero-COVID policy earlier this month, an abrupt move welcomed by businesses and the public but heavily disrupting business operations in the short term.

One of the people said workers at Tesla and its suppliers have also been falling sick as part of this wave, posing challenges to operations in the past week.

SHANGHAI, Dec 27 (Reuters) - Tesla (TSLA.O) plans to run a reduced production schedule at its Shanghai plant in January, extending the reduced output it began this month into next year, according to an internal schedule reviewed by Reuters.

Tesla will run production for 17 days in January between Jan. 3 to Jan. 19 and will stop electric vehicle output from Jan. 20 to Jan. 31 for an extended break for Chinese New Year, according to the plan seen by Reuters.

Verrassend genoeg nam Tesla-topman Elon Musk vrijdag zelf plaats in de rechtszaal, en een paar uur later viel de hem welgevallige beslissing: de jury verwierp de schadeclaims van aandeelhouders die via Twitter-berichten uit 2018 over Musk hoorden bedrogen en geschaad door de mogelijke aankoop van Tesla op de beurs. Volgens een beursexpert in het proces leidden de plotselinge koersbewegingen bij Tesla na de tweets tot verliezen van tientallen miljarden, maar de jury vond dat Musk hier niet verantwoordelijk voor kon zijn.

Volgens een rapport van de Wall Street Journal (WSJ) kwam de unanieme beslissing na slechts twee uur beraadslaging, na getuigenissen van de CEO van Tesla, andere bestuursleden en investeringsbankiers in de weken ervoor. De rechter had zich eerder uitgesproken over de vraag of Musk de waarheid schreef met de bewering van Twitter in augustus 2018 dat de financiering voor de transactie al "zeker was", door de verklaring als misleidend te classificeren. Maar de jury was het met de verdediging eens dat dit niet als opzettelijke fraude moet worden beoordeeld.

Musk zelf had zijn ondervraging voor de rechtbank in San Francisco gebruikt om zijn standpunt tot in detail naar voren te brengen. Kort na de Twitter-aankondiging van zijn Tesla-privatiseringsplannen en de annulering minder dan twee weken later, beloofde hij $ 20 miljoen te betalen in een fraudezaak met de SEC en nam hij ontslag als Tesla-voorzitter. Later en tijdens het proces legde hij echter uit dat hij daartoe was gedwongen om Tesla te beschermen in de delicate financiële situatie van dat moment.

Former Tesla AI Director Andrej Karpathy has announced that he is rejoining OpenAI, an artificial intelligence startup co-founded by Elon Musk in 2015. Karpathy shared his move to rejoin OpenAI on his personal Twitter account.

Prior to his employment at Tesla, Karpathy was already known as a deep learning specialist who wrote several papers with notable individuals in the AI field, such as Fei-Fei Li, head of Stanford’s computer vision lab, and Google’s former AI head, Andrew Ng. Most of Karpathy’s work concerned image recognition and understanding, which were crucial for Tesla’s self-driving efforts.

It was then unsurprising when Elon Musk ended up poaching Karpathy from OpenAI so that he could work at Tesla. Karpathy saw success in the electric vehicle maker, leading the creation of the company’s machine learning and computer vision teams over his nearly five-year tenure. By the time he left Tesla in 2022, Karpathy was already serving as the company’s Director of AI.

While he has already parted ways with Tesla, Karpathy has maintained seemingly close relations with the electric vehicle maker and its executives. This was hinted strongly during AI Day 2022 when Elon Musk personally poked fun at Karpathy, who was watching the event’s livestream. Karpathy also mentioned during an appearance on Lex Fridman’s podcast that he loves the EV maker a lot. He also hinted at a potential return to Tesla in the future.

In a post on Twitter responding to a video of Karpathy’s segment on Lex Fridman’s podcast, Elon Musk clarified that “Andrej will always be welcome at Tesla.”

Not Tesla Autopilot But Drunk Driving Caused Fatal 2021 Car Crash, Federal Probe Finds

Tesla is likely to be exonerated of charges over the electric vehicle maker’s Autopilot driver assistance system causing fatal car cash in 2021.

What Happened: The crash involving a 2019 Tesla Model S P100D electric vehicle in Spring, Harris County, Texas, on April 17, 2021, killed the driver following damage to the front of the high-voltage lithium-ion battery case that started a fire. This led to the death of the driver and the passenger on board.

A National Transportation Safety Board probe has found that the crash was probably caused by the driver’s excessive speed and failure to control his car due to alcohol intoxication in combination with the effects of two sedating antihistamines. This resulted in a roadway departure, tree impact and the post-crash fire, the agency added.

Ja, Micele, uw Tesla glazen bol zou ik toch terug sturen voor een refund. Indien de grote Tesla Leider zo'n dingen zou toestaan maar naar 't schijnt heeft hij wel wat problemen met garantie te eerbiedigen.

Terug kleine (short) positie ingenomen om te spelen op een bounce op de neklijn. Zeker met een minder slecht inflatierapport is er nog veel ruimte naar boven. Een stijging volgende week naar +/- $250 zou het zeer aantrekkelijk maken om er met een grote positie in te vliegen.

Heb nog steeds enkele leap put contructies van vorig voorjaar die al dan niet waardeloos worden deze zomer die ik laat lopen tot expiratie.

Ik speel met het gedacht dat de inflatie terug een opwakkering gaat krijgen en de FFR wel eens hoger kan eindigen dan momenteel de consensus is, daarbovenop het langer gaat duren voor er cuts komen.
Ik wil het wel eens zien dat investeerders dan aandelen verkiezen boven een ZEKER rendement op de US treasury uitgiften in dit economisch en geopolitiek geladen klimaat.

Soros Fund Management added Tesla shares in Q4 2022, increasing its stake in the company by around 270%. The position is valued at more than $47 million at Monday's closing price.

While Tesla's stock was declining in price last year and investors were panicking, Soros Fund Management seized the opportunity to significantly increase its stake in the manufacturer. It purchased 242,399 Tesla shares during the fourth quarter, according to a filing Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission. This reflects an impressive increase of around 270%, bringing the fund's total holdings to 332,046 Tesla shares.

Soros Fund Management bought Tesla shares during 2022. In November, it filed a 13F-HR form disclosing ownership of 89,647 shares of Tesla with total holdings valued at $23,779,000 as of September 30, 2022. The fund had filed a previous 13F-HR on August 12, 2022, disclosing 29,883 shares of Tesla at a value of $20,124,000. However, the Q4 acquisition was the largest, and likely reflected a strong belief that the company's financial and operating results in the last quarter of the year will be great. The increase in its Tesla stake shows Soros' growing confidence that the company is on track to achieve its goals, despite market fluctuations.

Amid the downturn in electric vehicle stocks in the fourth quarter, billionaire investor George Soros’ Soros Fund Management has made changes to its EV portfolio.

What Happened: The firm held 332,046 shares of Tesla Inc. at the end of the fourth quarter, valued at $40.90 billion, 13F filings by the firm showed. This represents a 270% increase in the number of shares it held at the end of the third quarter.

Soros’ fund also opened a fresh position in the Cathie Wood-owned Ark Innovation, in which Tesla has a 10.92% weighting.

On the other hand, the fund liquidated part of its Rivian Automotive Holdings holding. It held 14.35 million shares of the company, valued at $264.38 million, down 12.3% from 16.36 million shares at the end of the third quarter.

Soros Fund took a fresh position in legacy automaker General Motors Corp.
GM. It bought 500,000 shares of the company, valued at $16.82 million.

Tesla confirms select US Superchargers will be open to all EVs, network to 2x next year

Tesla’s plans to open its Supercharger Network to other electric vehicles seem to be moving forward. As per a recent update, select US Superchargers will be open to all electric vehicles. The company is also looking to double the size of the Supercharger Network by the end of 2024.

Tesla posted its updates on its official Tesla Charging Twitter account. “Select Tesla Superchargers across the US will soon be open to all EVs. Our US network will more than double by the end of 2024 to support our growing Tesla fleet and new EV customers,” Tesla Charging noted.

Tesla gaat ook al hun bestaande SuC openstellen voor niet-Tesla's.
Ze zullen alvast wat meer $cent/kWh mogen vragen. Want die Sucs verdubbeling komt niet gratis. Hopelijk gaan de vergunningen nu sneller dan in het verleden.
