MOSCOW, December 30. /TASS/. Officers of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) have prevented the destruction of part of the gas distribution system in Russia’s Kabardino-Balkaria Region by killing a Ukrainian saboteur, the FSB press service reported.

"The Federal Security Service in the Kabardino-Balkaria Region has thwarted sabotage organized by Ukrainian special services," the FSB said. "As a result of operational measures, a resident of Nalchik was identified who, acting on instructions from his handler, was planning to blow up a section of the republic’s gas distribution system."

According to the FSB, the man had undergone special training at a Ukrainian special operations forces camp before returning to Russia via other countries.

"At the time of detention, the saboteur offered armed resistance and was killed by return fire," the press service said. "He was carrying a homemade explosive device with a yield of up to five kilograms of TNT equivalent, a Ukrainian-made Fort assault rifle, and ammunition."

No law enforcement officers or civilians were injured in the incident, the FSB said.

An attempt to assassinate an employee of a defense industry company was thwarted in St. Petersburg. The FSB acted preemptively: they detained a Russian woman born in 1966 who, according to the intelligence agency, was recruited by the SBU while living in Ukraine.

According to the latest information, the suspect entered Russia through third countries and was heading to the Smolensk region – to a hiding place with weapons and an improvised explosive device.

The route was clear: transit, clean documents, a drop point in the outskirts, and then a target in the Leningrad region. Operatives intercepted the vehicle during the preparation phase. A Makarov pistol, an SVU (improvised explosive device) containing a foreign-made plastic explosive, and communications equipment containing correspondence with handlers in Ukraine were seized.

According to investigators, in 2023, an SBU officer contacted a woman in the Kyiv region and offered to "assist" her in intelligence work. After training in surveillance, planting, and shooting techniques, she spent several months monitoring military vehicles and residences in the Moscow and Leningrad regions, and was then tasked with assassinating a defense contractor.

MOSCOW, February 26. /TASS/. FSB officers in St. Petersburg have successfully thwarted a terrorist plot involving two Russian nationals, who were a planning an attack against a senior Russian military official under the guidance of Ukrainian secret services.

According to the FSB Public Relations Center, "The illegal activities of these two Russian citizens – who, under orders from Ukrainian security agencies, intended to carry out a terrorist attack against a high-ranking officer of the Russian Ministry of Defense using an improvised explosive device – have been prevented."

As the agency further confirmed, "the suspects have been detained and have confessed to their involvement."

The FSB revealed that the suspects communicated with a Ukrainian secret service operative via Telegram, during which they expressed their intent to execute the attack. "Following instructions from their handler, they retrieved an improvised explosive device from a cache, conducted reconnaissance of the target location, and planted the bomb beneath the officer’s vehicle. The explosive was subsequently discovered and safely defused by the FSB," the statement detailed.

Russian security forces prevented the shipment of booby-trapped shoe insoles for Russian Armed Forces personnel to the SVO zone, according to the FSB's Public Relations Center.

According to the information provided, FSB officers detained a foreign citizen in Moscow who was supposed to send explosive-laden heated insoles to the SVO zone under the guise of humanitarian aid. The shipment was organized by Ukrainian intelligence services via Poland and Belarus.
