U wil zeggen dat hij vermoord zou worden door iemand uit zijn eigen omgeving? Daar hoopt de oppositie, en het Westen en de Golfpotentaten, al jaren op, maar het gebeurde nooit. Ik denk dat iedereen, en dan vooral de "oppositie" (eufimisme voor terroristen maar goed ze hebben veel macht) goed moet beseffen dat elke oplossing voor Syrië via de Assads zal gaan.

Je moet mij niet geloven, leest u maar rustig verder op FOX en co.

Ik denk dat het te ver gekomen is ondertussen. Weinig mensen zullen het nog geloven. Bovendien zou het er voor zorgen dat de rebellen hun krachten zouden verspillen door onderling te vechten. Dat speelt uiteraard in het voordeel van
Assad en z'n bondgenoten.

Wat zeggen die foto's eigenlijk? Een oudere man die een jongen in de armen draagt die gewond lijkt. Behalve de vele mogelijkheden tot persmanipulatie, is het goed mogelijk dat dit een van de vele kindsoldaten was onder de rebellen die gewond raakte.

Al Qaeda is de reden waarom het westen de rebellen nog niet heeft bewapend, de reguliere rebellen zullen die eerst moeten uitschakelen. Die strijd is nu aan het aanwakkeren, toch zullen de rebellen nooit de echt goeie wapens krijgen, het westen kan zich niet veroorloven dat over heel de wereld burgervliegtuigen neergehaald worden met westerse wapens.

Het sentiment is ook aan het veranderen, de rebellen worden niet meer gezien als de 'goeie'. Het westen wil enkel de winnende fractie steunen om ergens toch nog wat invloed te kunnen uitvoeren in de streek. Maar daar moeten ze eigenlijk ook al niet meer op rekenen, zelfs niet bij een overwinning of bij grote wapenleveringen. Er is geen reden meer om wapens te leveren aan de rebellen.

A senior rebel commander with the Free Syrian Army has been shot and killed by jihadis. As Paul Wood reports, the killing is part of an escalating struggle within the armed uprising between moderates and Islamists linked to al-Qaeda.

Even as the Syrian regime pushes back the rebels on several fronts, a civil war within the civil war is building on the opposition side.

"This is a disaster for us, a disaster for the revolution," a female opposition activist told me.

She was complaining about Islamist gunmen telling her not to smoke, to cover her head, and to leave meetings where she was the only woman.

"We do not want these people," she went on, referring to the foreign fighters who have joined jihadi brigades. "This is not Syria."

She admitted that the jihadis had grown in popularity because of corruption and infighting among the FSA. Many rebel groups were preying on the people they are supposed to be fighting for, she conceded.

I spoke to another activist who had spent two years on the run from the regime, only to finally flee Syria because he spoke out against looting by the FSA. "One word about this on Facebook can earn you a bullet," he told me.

The moral clarity of the early days of the uprising has been lost.

Now many people tell me the revolution itself has become corrupt and, in rebel-held areas, they fear a different kind of tyranny: crime, kidnapping, gangsterism.

But now some who supported the revolution are even switching, however reluctantly, to the regime, as the lesser of two evils. The result is that the government is looking stronger than ever.

Het waren anti schip raketten, het lijkt me dat syrie die niet echt nodig heeft om tegen de rebellen te vechten. Het lijkt me logisch dat ze deze uitgeschakeld hebben, Israël lijkt beide partijen in stand te willen houden, dan kunnen ze elkaar wat blijven uitmoorden.

Een plezier om te lezen, hopelijk gaat het zo verder. Moslims tonen hun ware gelaat en zelfs Assad wordt gezien als het mindere van 2 kwaden, prachtig.

Ik had het ook veel later verwacht maar ze komen echt niet overeen, de ene sekte wil de andere uitroeien, zo werk het altijd met moslims als ze niet gecontroleerd worden. In syrie hebben ze ook het secularisme geproefd naast de tiran, dat helpt natuurlijk.
