Goeie zet van het regime, strijders keren terug als hun familie ook terugkeren naar de steden die niet gecontroleerd worden door islamisten. Het volgende wat we nu gaan zien zijn islamitische rebellen die dergelijke families gaan uitmoorden wegens verraad.

(Reuters) - Qatar may tone down its pushy foreign policy, chastened by setbacks in Syria and Egypt, but is likely to keep supporting Arab Spring revolts and bankrolling Islamist influence, albeit a little more quietly.

The tiny state provided much of the armed muscle behind the Arab rebellions, while its aid for Muslim Brotherhood rule in Egypt alarmed neighboring Gulf monarchies who see the Islamist movement as a threat to their own hereditary authority.

Under a long-standing policy of international self-promotion, Qatar earlier mediated in disputes from Somalia to Lebanon, and became the enfant terrible of the Gulf Arab dynasties by using its al Jazeera TV to attack authoritarian rule beyond its borders and promote Islamist views.

But rebel defeats in Syria, the ousting of Egypt's Islamist President Mohamed Mursi on July 3 and a failure to host planned Afghan peace talks in June exposed as over-hasty Doha's dreams of becoming a heavyweight international power-broker.

The wealthy gas exporter got its comeuppance, critics say, and must now be more circumspect abroad, defer to regional heavyweight Saudi Arabia, and focus on priorities at home such as building projects before it hosts the 2022 soccer World Cup.

Last month's accession of a young emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, after the abdication of his father, gives Qatar an opportunity to make a fresh start, the argument goes.

People who know Qatar, however, do not expect any U-turns.

28 juli 2013 - Damascus, (SANA) – Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi said that the terrorists who committed Khan al-Assal massacre and the countries which support, fund and arm them will be held accountable, and that they will pay dearly for this crime. In an interview broadcast by the Syrian TV on Saturday, al-Zoubi said that holding the perpetrators of the massacre accountable is only a matter of time, and that what happened in Khan al-Assal constitutes a great sacrifice by Syrian civilians and soldiers for the sake of the homeland.

The Information Minister pointed out that it’s become well-known that the terrorists are directed, trained, armed and funded by the US, France, Britain, Saudi Arabia and Turkey who are legally responsible for the crimes of their terrorist pawns.

Al-Zoubi went on to note that Syria reported the supporters of terrorism in Syria to the UN, providing details, data and documents, but all that was ignored.

He said that the takfiri Wahabi mentality of the terrorist groups in Syria is unilateral, and in that it shares much with Zionist mentality, which is why Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Israel are united in hating the Syrian people as it is the natural enemy of unilateral thinking due to its history, culture, civilization and diversity.

Al-Zoubi called upon the political opposition abroad to distance itself from terrorism and condemn the massacres against Syrians, and to engage in dialogue and a political solution immediately if they are really nationalistic as they claim, adding “otherwise they are part of the terrorist acts taking place.”

The Information Minister asserted that terrorists are using civilians as human shields, which prevents the Syrian Army from ending confrontations with terrorists swiftly in some areas or using heavy weaponry out of fear for civilian lives.

He said that Saudi Arabia has been carrying out this destructive role for decades as it seeks to destroy the pan-Arab project and cause fragmentation and instability, noting that Saudi Arabia had done so against Jamal Abdelnasser in Egypt in the past.

The Information Minister also affirmed that the Justice and Development government in Turkey is part of the extremist Muslim Brotherhood project in the region, which is why it is conspiring against Syria, and that the Muslim Broth seek to assume control, not build states, and that the same plans used against Syria are being prepared for Egypt.

Daar lijkt het toch op, ook Israël wil de oorlog laten duren, als er een overwinnaar zou zijn dan zal die automatisch anti-israël zijn.

Turkije en Qatar ook. Dan komt er geen gasleiding van de Iraanse south Pars naar Europa. Dat Europa de voortdurende destructie van Syrië in de hand werkt is onbegrijpelijker echter, want het maakt Europa afhankelijker van Russisch gas. Maar het is dan ook niet de eerste keer dat de EU tegen de belangen van Europa in handelt op verzoek van buiten Europese mogendheden.

De parallel met de Irak Iran oorlog dringt zich op mijns inziens. Daar werden bedien partijen gefinancierd. De bedoeling...eindeloze oorlog en verzwakking. Ook goed voor degenen wiens economie nogal veel afhankelijk is van wapenexport.

De EU volgt de VS en bepaalde moslim landen, het is vreemd om te zeggen maar Iran lijkt me momenteel het beste islamitische land om mee samen te werken. Er komt ook een revolutie maar helemaal anders tenzij de VS een oorlog kan uitlokken natuurlijk.

30 juli 2013 - De belangrijkste Koerdische militie in Syrië heeft dinsdag opgeroepen tot een "algemene mobilisatie" tegen de jihadstrijders. Die oproep komt er enkele uren na de moord op een Koerdische leider in het noordoosten van het land.

Goed, die komen alvast in actie. Niet alle Koerden zijn Communisten maar de groepsgeest is voldoende groot om samen te vechten denk ik, ook andere regio zien dit als een stap naar onafhankelijkheid.

Wat die slachtoffers van bombardementen in dat artikel doen weet ik ook niet, die zijn van Assad troepen en die bemoeien zich niet meer met de Koerden.?

Redelijk gematigd en onafhankelijk(?) islamitisch Syrische rebellengroep probeert een brug te slaan tussen buitenlandse en binnenlandse troepen, ze hebben veel zware wapens en dat maakt blijkbaar indruk.

Daarom dat men uiteindelijk hele wijken de vernieling in schiet.

Vooral in het dichtbevolkte Yarmouk ziet men veel close combat vanwege deze strategie.
