Ik weet niet wat je met jouw post precies wilde aantonen maar als je een boom wil opzetten over de verspreiding van de windpokken e.d. lijkt me dit niet het geschikte topic.

Het betreft genetische variatie in populaties gemapt in functie van 'land'. Dan zie je dat Duitsers met een extreem grote genetische variatie zitten, die weinig overlap heeft met 'Belgen'. Die lijken evenveel onze broeders te zijn als die van de Hongaren of Polen.

Wel één probleem met die studie, men had best Belgen opgedeeld in Vlamingen en Walen.

E hoe hebben ze in jouw kaartje de 'ethnic distribution' bepaalt als ik vragen mag?
Taal?
Genetisch?

The S21 (U106) branch

R1b-S21 (a.k.a. U106) is found at high concentrations in the Netherlands and northern Germany. Its presence in other parts of Europe can be attributed to the 5th- and 6th-century Germanic migrations. The Frisians and Saxons spread this haplogroup to the British Isles, the Franks to Belgium and France, and the Lombards to Austria and northern Italy. The high concentration of S21/U106 around Austria hints that it could have originated there in the Hallstatt period, or originated around the Black Sea and moved there during the Hallstatt period. In fact, southern Germany and Austria taken together have the highest diversity of R1b in Europe. Besides S21, the three major first level subclades of R1b1b2a1b (L21, S28, M167) are found in this area at reasonable frequencies to envisage a spread from the Unetice to Hallstatt homeland to the rest of western Europe.

The existence of R-U106 as a major lineage within the Germanic group is self-evident, as Germanic populations have a higher frequency against all their neighbors (Romance, Irish, Slavs, Finns). Indeed, highest frequencies are attained in the Germanic countries, followed by countries where Germanic speakers are known to have settled in large numbers but to have ultimately been absorbed or fled (such as Ireland, north Italy, and the lands of the Austro-Hungarian empire). South Italy, the Balkans, and West Asia are areas of the world where no Germanic settlement of any importance is attested, and correspondingly R-U106 shrinks to near-zero.
