Zijn eerste staatsbezoeken gingen naar China en Iran...een duidelijke boodschap naar de VS dat de Mubarak onderdanigheid voorbij is.

Morsi en Obama gaan trouwens wel naar hetzelfde 'feestje' lees ik. Ze zullen dan wel handjes schudden zeker. Je kan een staatsgreep ook voorbereiden terwijl je handjes schud.

Dat was eerlijk gezegd ook mijn eerste ingeving. Die gaat nogal hard in tegen VS belangen. Maar evengoed snubt hij Nethanyahu opnieuw, die rode lijnen eiste, waar men niet is mee opgezet.

Morsi said he had brought together officials from Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Turkey in a bid to find a solution to the conflict.

The Syrian government has accused Saudi Arabia and Turkey of arming opposition rebels, while UN experts have said Iran is arming Assad's forces.

"This is the reason why I chose these countries," Morsi said. "You cannot solve the problem without those countries which intervene in the problem. The stakeholders are the ones who sit down together to solve the problem."

Er kan enkel een oplossing komen door de grote spelers samen te brengen en de dialoog aan te gaan.

Saudi Arabië is wat terughoudend en daagt vaak niet op.

Maar mochten ze eruit komen, wie weet kunnen ze dan ook hun overige twisten bijpraten en oplossen. En inzien dat ze samen sterk staan tegen de werkelijke vijand: Israël en de VS.

The House of Representatives, the Senate and the king recently approved legislation that would impose the same sort of tough restrictions faced by domestic print media on online news Web sites and give the government new powers to block domestic and international Web sites.

Under the new legislation, editors would be held responsible for anything published on their Web sites, and local online media would be required to register and obtain licenses from the Press and Publications Department, at a cost of nearly 1,000 dinars in registration fees.

Jordanian journalists showed their disapproval by blacking out many Internet media sites one day last month. Cartoonists, bloggers, and Twitter users have raged against the proposed rules.

“It seems that times have, indeed, changed, and even the voice of reason has departed the political theater,” wrote Naseem Tarawneh, a popular blogger. Mr. Tarawneh suggested that the main goal of the authorities was to scare the online media world into self-censorship.

This week, the Jordanian news media association held a protest near the offices of the main newspapers. “There can be no reform without press freedom,” read a large sign.

Because Jordan previously refrained from censoring Internet content, the new rules have come as a shock to many.</sub>
