Volgens mij moet je toch al een redelijke aap zijn om zonder morren te aanvaarden dat je plots tot 67 moet werken en misschien straks tot je ter plekke doodvalt, enkel en alleen omdat een aantal zilverruggen hier beslissen elk jaar opnieuw en dit ondertussen al een paar decennia lang , 5O.OOO analfabeten uit de woestijn binnen te halen , analfabeten waar we hier niets of nauwelijks iets mee kunnen aanvangen en waarvan haast zeker is dat het gros ervan hier levenslang op onze kosten aan den trog zal zitten.
Denk je niet ?

Er wordt vanalles gedaan om de toestroom van illegale migranten tegen te werken. Degene die hier al generaties wonen krijg je niet zomaar meer weg, dat zijn ondertussen Belgen geworden.
Maar tot je 67ste werken of wie weet langer hoort bij het neoliberale verhaal, ondertussen worden de winsten en fortuinen van de 5 %rijksten steeds groter. Griekenland moet, met het mes op de keel, aanvaarden dat de bevolking steeds armer wordt, elke cent wordt geteld, dat terwijl multinationals nog maar eens een cadeau krijgen in de vorm van een vrijhandelsakkoord met de VS.

De onrust is voorbij, de 'eensgezinde' Grieken gaan voor extra belastingen en een nieuwe 'powerelite'-injectie.

July 9th was a black day for the Greek left. SYRIZA's leading team, around prime minister Alexis Tsipras, subordinated itself completely and absolutely to the demands of the Troika lenders.

The Greek working class finds itself in a tragic position. They voted for SYRIZA in order to find solutions to their problems and to escape from the Memoranda (austerity packages). Yet after five months in government the only thing that SYRIZA was able to deliver was another catastrophic Memorandum which finishes off the pro-austerity policies of the previous governments of New Democracy and PASOK.

The working masses do not forget that the same people who are today betraying the ideas and principles of the Left are the same people who had promised to get rid of the Memorandum "within one day and with one law". It's the same people who promised the Salonica Programme (SYRIZA's more radical pre-election promises), which they claimed would be carried out irrespectively of the negotiations with the Troika.

The leading group in SYRIZA and Alexis Tsipras have been proven tragically incapable of responding to the tasks of the moment and unworthy of the confidence of the working class. They are unworthy of the earth-shaking 'No' vote on 5 July which reverberated throughout Europe and the whole world.

They betrayed the confidence of workers, pensioners, the unemployed and the poor, who voted by 70%-80% in favour of No in the working class neighbourhoods and cities. They betrayed the great struggle launched by the Left and the working class, all across Europe, in support of the struggling Greek workers.

And yet, even at this time, the SYIRZA leaders around Tsipras have the gall to ask people to rally today in favor of 'No' because, supposedly, this 'government of the Left' needs the support of people in the streets! But why should the working class rally and demonstrate to defend those who have stabbed it in the back! Particularly when, only a few days ago, on Friday 3 July, workers and youth came out in their hundreds of thousands into the centre of Athens and on 5 July voted No by a massive 61.3%.

The so-called negotiations with the Troika are still, supposedly, continuing and it seems that the only possibility, however remote, of a reversal of the process of the subordination of SYRIZA is if sections of the ruling classes in Europe simply decide to kick Greece out of the Eurozone. This would be the only instance in which Tsipras could come into a head-on clash with the Eurozone. If this happened, it would of course not change even one iota any of the above criticisms of the leadership of SYRIZA.
Serving capitalism

July 9th represents a historical turning point in the transformation of SYRIZA from a party of the Left into a party in the service of the capitalist system. Tsipras and the ruling team have crossed the Rubicon. And they will continue on this road even if this leads them into the hands of a 'national government' along with the enemies of yesterday, even if they have to expel the left wing of SYRIZA and 'destroy' the party.

What lies behind this new historical tragedy of the Greek Left is nothing else but the complete lack of understanding by the leadership of the class character of living reality. And a complete lack of understanding of what class struggle means.

Sofia. “Disagreements between Greece and the EU will not bring any change in the Balkans,” historian Professor Milko Palangurski said speaking for Radio FOCUS.
In his words, there has never been a political power in Greece to declare a wish to leave the EU.
“This is the reason that makes us believe that there will be no serious changes on the peninsula. I do not know how this can happen since the ruling power in Greece claims that Greece wants to stay in the EU and preserve its current status. It is possible to witness serious problems in economic plan but not in politics,” the professor added.
According to him, it is impossible to see a leftist political wave in the Balkan countries.
“The Balkan countries have survived communism. Politically, they are not open to leftist populist rule,” Mr Palangurski said.

Nu Griekenland verder wegglijdt van de Europese Unie, ontstaat er een vacuüm waar Vladimir Poetin graag inspringt. 'Een boos, vijandig en verslagen land kan behoorlijk gaan dwarsliggen', aldus een oud-NAVO-commandant.

Terwijl de gewone Griek angstig toekijkt of zijn spaargeld al dan niet verdampt, de Europese leiders met het handen in het haar zitten en Tsripas constant schippert tussen zijn eigen achterban en de wil van Europa, lijkt één land voordeel te halen uit deze crisis: Rusland. Nu Griekenland verder wegglijdt van de Europese Unie, ontstaat er een vacuüm waar Vladimir Poetin wel eens zou kunnen inspringen.

De goede banden tussen Griekenland en Rusland zijn niet nieuw, de regerende partij Syriza steekt haar sympathie voor Ruslands anti-Amerikaanse en anti-imperialisme houding niet onder stoelen of banken. Na zijn verkiezingsoverwinning ontving Alexis Tsipras als eerste de Russische ambassadeur in Athene, dus geen EU- of NAVO-partner. En ook maandagochtend - daags na het Grieks referendum - sprak Tsipras direct met Vladimir Poetin. Een volle dag eerder dan zijn conversatie met de Amerikaanse president Barack Obama.
Goede vriendjes

Een blik op de wereldkaart, toont bovendien waarom niet alleen de EU wakker ligt van een Grexit, ook de Verenigde Staten hebben er belang bij dat Griekenland 'goede vriendjes' blijft met Europa. Zij willen op het zuiderse land kunnen rekenen als betrouwbare NAVO-partner omsingeld door minder stabiele Balkanstaten en het woelige Noord-Afrika.

Vandaar dat Obama de afgelopen weken meermaals aan de telefoon hing met de Duitse bondskanselier Angela Merkel, de Franse president François Hollande en de Britse premier David Cameron. Volgens de Amerikaanse krant The New York Times heeft de Amerikaanse minister van Financiën dit jaar al meer dan zestig keer met zijn Europese collega's gebeld, met steeds dezelfde boodschap: 'Jullie moeten er alles doen om een Grexit te voorkomen.'

Al betekent een Grexit niet onmiddellijk dat de gehele Europese veiligheid in gevaar komt. Griekenland blijft op zo'n moment nog steeds lid van de Unie en de NAVO. 'Maar een boos, vijandig en verslagen land kan behoorlijk gaan dwarsliggen', stelt oud-NAVO-commandant James Stavridis op de Nederlandse Omroep NOS.


Gas

Maar Poetin kijkt niet alleen reikhalzend naar Griekenland omwille van het militaire belang. Ook de toevloed van energie is cruciaal. Gisteren nog maakte het Russische staatsbedrijf Gazprom bekend dat Griekenland op tijd heeft betaald voor de levering van gas.

'Brussel kan wel eisen dat de EU minder afhankelijk wordt van het gas uit Rusland, maar het staat de Grieken vrij om te handelen met wie ze willen. Ook met het Kremlin, want wij zijn niemands gijzelaar', aldus de bevlogen Griekse Energieminister Panagiotis Lafazanis.

Daarnaast heeft de Griekse bevolking nog iets belangrijks gemeen met de Russen: hun oosters-orthodoxe geloof.

Ik heb nog steeds vertrouwen in Tsipras. Hij heeft zich moedig verzet tegen de eisen van de Troika, en dat er nu toch een compromis komt toont aan de de troika, onder Amerikaanse druk, hun eisen bijgesteld hebben.
