BTB/UBT and BBTK/Setca solidarity with the strikers of Aviapartner Düsseldorf.

We support the struggle of the 1.000 people working for Avia at the Airport of Düsseldorf and 50 at the Airport in Hannover. They are fighting for better working conditions, a fair collective agreement and a living wage.

Despite of the growing passengers and high rates of profits in the aviation sector, these Avia colleagues do not dispose of fulltime jobs to make a living of their own. Many of them depend on state aid or on a second job. This is not acceptable and needs to be changed for the better! This is why the ver.di unionized workers demand a substantial pay raise, a fair collective agreement and predictable working hours!

We know that H.I.G., one of the leading international private- equity provider became an investor of Aviapartner. This is not good news for the 6.000 Aviapartner employees. The business model of HIG is "buy to sell". This means saving costs at all levels and higher return on investments to make a futur sell as profitable as posible.

We know, that the employees of Aviapartner and of all ground handling companies can only make sure to have decent working conditions and a living wage if we coordinate our actions on an international level!

Instead of bringing strikebreakers from other Aviapartner stations to Düsseldorf, risking their safety and the safety of all passengers due to safety violations- Avia should grant this money for a monthly pay raise for everyone!

BTB-UBT and BBTK-Setca are shocked about the strike breaking operation organised by the Aviapartner management. We launch an appeal to the Belgian staff of Aviapartner not to collaborate to this strike breaking operation. Our organisations will use all our resources to stop this.

We support our colleagues from Aviapartner in Düsseldorf and Hannover and expect Avia to return to their previous commitment- a substantial reform for a better wage classification- for decent working conditions and a living wage!
