Standaard Research on European games, hobbies and toys

Hallo group members,
I was wondering whether anyone could help me with information regarding
any toys, games and hobbies that are popular in your country, or have
been popular over the last hundred years or so. I am gathering
information for a chapter I am writing for the Europe volume of an
encyclopedia of popular culture.

Rather than relying on the published sources that are few and
scattered, I would very much like to collect first-hand, authentic
information from people who are part of the many cultures that Europe
consists of. If you would like to help, could you please send me an
email, describing any games, hobbies and toys that you believe are the
most popular in your country and region. To give you an idea, this is
the kind of information I am looking for:
Games
· name of the game in both your language and English
· category of game (physical skill, strategy, chance, traditional or
video/computer game: what type of game and for what console)
· origins (e.g. it was introduced in the 1920s, it came from India
etc)
· when and how often is it played?
· where is it played?
· who plays it?
· what equipment does it involve and who manufactures it?
· details of any clubs, websites, literature etc. associated with the
game
· anything else you find interesting - anecdotes, etc.
· any images?

Hobbies
· name of the hobby in both your language and English
· kind of hobby (e.g. collecting, creative activity, fitness etc.)
· when did it become popular?
· description: what exactly does it involve?
· is it associated with a particular segment of the population
(teenagers, pre-schoolers, women/men, etc.?
· what resources does it involve and where are they available from?
· details of any clubs, websites, literature etc. associated with the
hobby
· anything else you find interesting - anecdotes, etc.
· any images?

Toys
· name of the toy in both your language and English
· category of toy (e.g. action figure, doll, model car, etc.)
· origins
· when and how often is it played with?
· where is it played with?
· who plays with it?
· who manufactures it?
· details of any clubs, websites, literature etc. associated with the
toy
· anything else you find interesting - anecdotes, etc.
· any images?

Also, if you would like to be notified when the book has been
published, please let me know.
Many thanks.
